Now What's Popan?
What is this page?
A fairly up-to-date list of the things I'm focusing on and what I'm doing, basically a more relevant and interesting "About" page.

I'm at the Recurse Center!
I just arrived in Brooklyn and officially started a 12 week batch at the Recurse Center. This has been a multi-year dream and it's finally happened.
In a nutshell, the Recurse Center batches people together for either 6 or 12 weeks, with the goal of encouraging you to work at the edge of your abilities and grow as a programmer. Essentially a writer's retreat for programming.
Sound interesting? Join the Recurse Center!
I'm currently focused on figuring out what to focus on, as there's a near-infinite buffet of topics to pair & partake in. So far I'm really interested in:
- Learning C & Zig
- Using C to write apps for my Flipper Zero
- Attending NY's first Zig Day
- Getting back into hacking/netsec with a Capture the Flag Fridays group
- Attending a soldering workshop, maybe building a keyboard from a parts kit
- Making music, algorave style
Likely every post I write for the next 3 months will be about something I'm doing here, fyi.
The Elixir Year Continues
I'm still learning Elixir, specifically the Ash Framework for encapsulating core business logic. I've got an idea for an app that combines journal entries with locally hosted small language models to build relationship between people and events with the goal of aiding self-awareness. Stay tuned for more on that.

Tools for Thought: The History & Future of Mind-Expanding Technology
A look forward and back at the founding figures of computing, going back to the 17th century from Lovelace & Babbage, to the dot-com figureheads (book was written in 2000). Really enjoying it so far, it's priming my mind for thinking about computing in the way of past greats.
The Art of Explanation: How to Communicate with Clarity & Confidence
